Katherine’s French Bakery & Cafe

to open in Bonnie Brae

A slice of French life and food in the Denver metro area

Aurora, CO - July 17, 2008 – In late August or early September, you'll find a new neighborhood bakery and cafe in the Bonnie Brae area of Denver, at 728 S. University Boulevard.

Katherine's French Bakery - Bonnie Brae will be located in the heart of one of Denver's most vital and historic neighborhoods and will be an addition to their original store, Katherine's French Bakery - Aurora.  The husband-and-wife team of Katherine Keeley and Mario Arrua plan to serve their new neighborhood just like their first: with excellent food and personalized service.

“Katherine’s will be a great place to eat, combining an intriguing atmosphere with excellent, interesting food,” said Executive Chef and Owner Mario Arrua.  “Our mission is not only to have great tasting food, but also efficient and friendly service because customer satisfaction is paramount.”  The casual bakery and cafe will combine menu variety, atmosphere, ambiance, and a friendly staff to create a sense of “place” for customers.

Katherine’s will offer the customer a chance to step out of Denver and into a French bakery and cafe, complete with the sights and sounds.   Lunch becomes an event and even the purchasing of coffee and a bakery item to go will leave the customers smiling.   Both the cafe menu and full-service catering menu are in place and have been time-tested to show their versatility and popularity with customers familiar with the Aurora location.

“We are very excited to serve the Bonnie Brae community and other close-by neighborhoods,” said Executive Pastry Chef and Owner Katherine Keeley.  “It’s an opportunity to present our beautiful and delicious products, both savory and sweet, to a larger audience.  Many of our Denver customers already drive to Aurora and this will be much more convenient for them!”

And let’s not forget one of the best reasons to visit Katherine’s French Bakery: the food!

About Katherine’s French Bakery, Cafe & Catering

Chef Mario Arrua has over 18 years of experience in the hospitality, food and beverage and cheffing arenas. Originally hailing from Argentina, Mario comes to Denver by way of Miami, a culinary mecca.  His style is simple and straightforward...but his presentation is always elegant.   His menu reflects a taste for well-prepared and properly seasoned food.

Chef Katherine Keeley apprenticed to a master French baker and travelled to Martigues, France where she worked in a Provençal patisserie-boulangerie under the tutelage of Algerian, Spanish and French chefs.  Her clients often say that her pastries, cakes and cookies remind them of the French pastries they have tasted around the world...whether in Paris or Tokyo or Berlin...those beautiful forms of food art that are not overly sweet but full of flavor.
